Support Women Against Pension Poverty

MPs Deliver Petition to 10 Downing Street

Lib Dem MPs with petitions outside Downing St

A group of Liberal Democrat MPs and MEPs have presented a mass petition to 10 Downing Street to call for urgent action on the pensions crisis affecting women.  The Lib Dems have been collecting signatures from women from around the country who have been horrified to find, late in their working life, that they had little or no entitlement to a state retirement pension.

The petition, which was handed in at Downing Street, reads as follows:

"I / we the undersigned believe that the incomes of many female pensioners - particularly the oldest - are inadequate, and call on the Government to increase the state pension, with more for older pensioners; and for a Government inquiry to look at the pension provision of future female pensioners."
