write to the
Government on our behalf:

If you believe that you have been misled,
Ministers have promised to look into cases where you have written
evidence. Since SWAPP was launched, individual women have been
successful with their appeals, with some winning cash settlements from the
Government.
|
 |
However, many women report that they were given wrong
information verbally, or simply not informed of the consequences of their
decision to pay the reduced stamp. The Government is reluctant to act in such
circumstances, but asking our MPs to raise our cases with the Department
for Work and Pensions continues to demonstrate
to Ministers that this is not a minor issue.

Tips on writing
to your MP: set out your position clearly and how you believe you lost out
- who gave you wrong advice? What were you led to believe? Include
your date of birth and National Insurance number. Ask your MP to
look into your case and raise it with Rt Hon Andrew Smith MP (the
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions).
